Popularity rank 41 #135. What is love?

September 22, 1997

MO: So? What's it gonna be, Nick? Is love the FEEL GOOD hit of the eon, or a FOUR-LETTER WORD?

MO: Is it the WAY OF THE ENLIGHTENED or a PLACEBO for the NAIVE?
NOTE: I get 2 props for using "i" in a cartoon. - P.M.

NICK: How about: "LOVE: Sometimes it's COOL, and then sometimes it's just NOT."

MO: You always were a wordsmith.
NICK: Well, I try. I FAIL, but I TRY.

Popularity rank 42 #134. Faith in love

September 19, 1997

MO: Maybe me just have to have FAITH, Nick. Like, even though I haven't ever LOVED, maybe I should still believe it EXISTS.

NICK: Can you really devote your whole BEING to believing in something you can't even prove EXISTS?
MO: Lots of people DO.

NICK: What? Do you mean like public policy majors who think they'll get JOBS?
MO: I was thinking more like RELIGION in general, but, yeah, that works too...

Popularity rank 43 #133. Maybe we invented love

September 18, 1997

NICK: Maybe WE INVENTED love to have something PERFECT to explain our OWN imperfections. But WE CAN'T achieve perfection.

NICK: We set ourselves up for a fall, and to avoid the shame in falling, WE LIE. All we HAVE is a less than perfect mish-mosh of lust, comfort and acceptance.

NICK: But WE CLAIM to be in LOVE, to have reached PERFECTION. We all buy into it, but this "LOVE" is just a big LIE.

MO: Sounds like Oliver Stone might be involved.
NICK: I SAY we combine 2 60's ideas: "Fight the power of love."

Popularity rank 44 #132. Do you believe in love?

September 17, 1997

MO: Nick, do you believe in LOVE?
NICK: Mo, I've spent MY WHOLE LIFE searching for love.

NICK: EVERYTHING I DO, directly or indirectly, consciously of subconsciously, is in an effort to find love.

NICK: If there's no such THING... I'm, I'm just SCREWED.

MO: So that's a "NO", then?
NICK: CORRECT-A-MUNDO. 'Cuz it's a safe bet I'm PROB'LY screwed.
