Popularity rank 31 #43. Meet Nick and Mo

January 23, 1997

JOHNNY: Of course, "Johnny" will play host to other members of the animal kingdom as well...
JOHNNY: Like our friends Mr. Squirrel and Mr. Bat here...
JHONNY: Animals, despite their lack of intelligence and sophistication, are often humorous to watch and poke fun at...
NICK: I wonder how the more "sophisticated" members of the strip will enjoy a walnut up-side their head at 300 mph....
MO: "MR. BAT"!?

Popularity rank 32 #31. Meet Johnny and Mo (alternate)

November 3, 1996

NARRATOR: Two characters, both alike in dignity...
NARRATOR: In fair li'l Durham, where we lay our scene...
Note: End of lame Shakespeare parody...
NARRATOR: One, a human. The other, a bat. Both equally marketable as potential Happy Meal toys.
NARRATOR: And so, a strip is born, and with it, new hope. Hope for a brighter future.
JOHNNY: One with easier orgo tests...
MO: Ay, there's the rub...

Popularity rank 33 #392. Where’s Nick and Mo?

March 31, 1999

NICK: Hey, Mo, how come we haven't been in the strip for a while?
LABEL: Nick the Squirrel
LABEL: Mo the Bat
MO: I dunno. Perhaps we were just a device used by an inexperienced caroonist to comment on topics that couldn't be placed in the context of the main characters.
MO: Perhaps now the cartoonist has had time to develop his characters and his craft, and can express himself fully through Johnny, Ben, etc. We've become "nonessential workers" so to speak.
NICK: Well, PERHAPS we shouldn't have peed in the editor's COFFEE that day...
MO: In MY species, it's a gesture of RESPECT!

Popularity rank 34 #253. Ndiaye

April 16, 1998

MO: So who was this French guy?
JOHNNY: WAIT! That's just a mask!
JACQUES: What're you doing?
JOHNNY: Makhtar Ndiaye!
NDIAYE: Yes! Hahaha!
JOHNNY: Ndiaye, huh?
JOHNNY: Is our strip THAT low budget?
NDIAYE: HEY! Thptoo!

Popularity rank 35 #252. End of long, drawn-out storylines

April 15, 1998

JOHNNY: Man, when you're on the lam, nothin' hits the spots like BREAKFAST FOOD!
BEN: You said it.
KRZYZEWSKI: THERE THEY ARE!!
BEN: Coach K! We're sorry about the car!
KRZYZEWSKI: It's OK, let's just have that tape!
KRZYZEWSKI: See officers, this surveillance tape from Cameron proves Roshown was shooting baskets at the time the jersey was stolen!
COPS: You're right!
LABEL: Police officers!
COPS: You're free to go, Roshown!
MO: I'm NOT, Roshown!
JOHNNY: How convenient that both plotlines simultaneously ended!
LABEL: Obviously a BAT, and not Roshown McLeod.
