#187. You know what’s funny?

December 3, 1997

WILLIAM: You know what's FUNNY? Since STRINGS are just ARRAYS of characters, and ARRAYS are just assigned blocks of MEMORY, you can just use POINTER arithmetic to TRAVERSE STRINGS. Even in C++!
LABEL: Big dork.

BARBER: So how 'bout the BACK? You want a wedge cut?
JOHNNY: I don't know what that MEANS, I- I just want a TRIM.
BARBER: YEAH, but do you want me to LAYER IT? Should I do a "Canadian boll weevil" on the TOP? What about the SIDEBURNS? Do you want them "Simpson-Unger" style, or "Albarn-Cuomo"?
JOHNNY: LOOK, I'm very impressed by your barber terminology, but I don't know what the HELL YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. I JUST WANT A TRIM.
JOHNNY: You understand, right?
BARBER: OH, I understand.
